Product Overview

What It Is & How It's Made

This is coconut shell that has been carbonized but not chemically or steam-activated — meaning it hasn't yet been processed into the highly porous form used in filtration and purification products. In its raw state, it's most commonly sold as a feedstock to activated carbon manufacturers, who further process it into granular or powdered activated carbon for water treatment, air filtration and other industrial uses.

Because it's simply the carbonized shell without further processing, it's also used directly as a high-calorific industrial fuel in kilns, boilers and foundries where a clean-burning, high-carbon fuel source is preferred over raw biomass. Supply is available as whole charred shell pieces or crushed to a specified particle size range.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'unactivated' mean?

It means the coconut shell has been carbonized (charred) but hasn't undergone the chemical or steam activation process used to create the porous structure of activated carbon.

Can I use this directly for water filtration?

Not as-is — this raw material is intended as feedstock for activation, or for direct use as an industrial fuel, not as a finished filtration product.

What particle sizes are available?

Grading is available on request depending on your downstream processing or fuel-use requirements.

What's the typical order size?

Standard MOQ is 1 × 20ft FCL; larger bulk orders are available for regular offtake agreements.
